Presiden Finlandia:
I want to, first, warmly thank President Joko Widodo for his invitation to visit Indonesia and to very interesting discussions we have had. I have been deeply impressed by the warm hospitality that me and my wife and the whole delegation have received during this visit.
Â
I was very saddened to learn about the forest and land fires, which have later human casualties. On behalf of the people of Finland, please allow me to express my deepest condolences on this occasion.
Â
Today we have discussed several topics of mutual interests, this including our bilateral relations, regional and international topics, and economic cooperation.
Â
Finland and Indonesia entered excellent relations, which are much closer than our geographic distance might indicate. Our relations are based on a long tradition. Last year, we celebrated the 60th anniversary of Finnish-Indonesian diplomatic relations. One important milestone in our relations is the Helsinki Peace Agreement for Aceh, signed ten years ago. My previous President, Martti Ahtisaari, played the key role during the process.
Â
Today, economic cooperation is in the core of our relations, and I am glad to bring a business delegation of world-class experts with me on this visit. I am delighted that we have identified many mutually beneficial sectors, so that we can complement each other’s efforts and strengths in the best practical ways.
Â
Discussions have focused on energy and infrastructure, but I am certain there is a great potential for deepening and strengthening our economic ties also in areas such as education and forestry.
Â
Concrete steps are also taken as a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of sustainable, clean and renewable energy, and energy efficiency has been just signed. Many lucrative discussions are also ongoing with our Indonesian partners and friends.
Â
Finland is a well functioning, competitive, and one of the most innovative societies in the world. This values have made us a great partner in several other topics and areas as well. We are like-minded in many issues and share parallel views on several questions in international floor.Â
Â
Our experience in bileteral peacekeeping and mediation tie our countries together and lay ground for the future coperation in multilateral questions.
Â
To end up, thank you, Mr. President, Your Excellency, once again. And like I said, we would very much like to see you in Finland as soon as possible, having a visit to Finland. Welcome.Â
