On the second day of his working visit in the Province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Saturday, November 13, 2021, President Joko Widodo planted trees with the local community. The tree planting was held in the Mount Pepe Forest Area, Central Lombok Regency.
"This morning I was in the Mount Pepe Forest Area in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. Together with the local community, ministers, governor, we planted many trees here, especially eucalyptus and also lots of fruit," said the President in his statement after planting.
The President advised the local community to maintain the trees that have been planted so that they grow well and can have an economic impact on all communities around the Mount Pepe Forest Area.
"It's also to protect our environment so it doesn't slide, it doesn't flood. So once again, I ask that it be properly maintained because it's still the rainy season, and it's very good for planting. If the community do it themselves, it will be even better," he said.
After planting trees with the community, President Jokowi went straight to Lombok Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport to leave for Papua Province.
Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, and Governor of NTB Zulkieflimansyah accompanied the President.
